Standing Unique, Standing United – World Cerebral Palsy Day 2025

On October 6, 2025, the world will come together to recognize World Cerebral Palsy Day—a global movement that celebrates the 50 million people living with cerebral palsy (CP), their families, and the communities that support them.

At the Theresa Foundation, we are proud to stand with the CP community to raise awareness, share stories, and work toward a future that is truly inclusive and accessible.

What is World Cerebral Palsy Day?

World CP Day is more than just an annual observance—it’s a call to action. Across 100+ countries, individuals and organizations join forces to highlight the challenges faced by people with CP, advocate for their rights, and celebrate their unique contributions to the world. It’s about breaking down barriers, championing accessibility, and ensuring that every voice is heard.

This Year’s Theme: #UniqueANDUnited

The 2025 campaign theme, #UniqueANDUnited, reminds us of two important truths:

  • Each person with CP has a unique experience that deserves recognition and respect.

  • Together, the CP community is a powerful force for change—united in resilience, creativity, and hope.

At the Theresa Foundation, we believe that true inclusion starts when individuality is honored and communities come together to lift one another up.

Why Awareness Matters

Cerebral palsy is the most common childhood physical disability, yet it is often misunderstood. Here are some key facts to know:

  • CP affects around 50 million people worldwide.

  • 1 in 4 children with CP cannot talk.

  • 1 in 3 cannot walk.

  • 1 in 2 live with an intellectual disability.

  • 1 in 4 have epilepsy.

Despite these challenges, people with CP lead rich, creative, and fulfilling lives. Early diagnosis, access to resources, and community support can make a life-changing difference.

How You Can Take Action

This World CP Day, we invite you to join us in making an impact. Here are a few ways to get involved:

  1. Share Your Story: Your voice matters. Whether you live with CP, love someone who does, or work alongside the CP community, your story can inspire others and break down stereotypes. Share on social media using #UniqueANDUnited or connect with us to be featured in our community highlights.

  2. Use Global Resources: World CP Day provides free advocacy tools, posters, and guides in multiple languages. These resources make it easy to educate, spread awareness, and start conversations in your community.

  3. Host or Join an Event: Get creative! Organize a storytelling session, join a virtual panel, or participate in a community awareness walk. Even a small gathering can spark big change.

  4. Educate Others: Talk about CP in your workplace, school, or social group. Share facts, bust myths, and help create a world that celebrates differences rather than dismissing them.

Standing Together

At the Theresa Foundation, we believe in the power of creativity, community, and compassion. On World Cerebral Palsy Day 2025, let’s honor the individuality of every person with CP and celebrate the strength of standing together — unique and united.

Together, we can create a more inclusive world, one story and one action at a time.
